Pharmaceutical Sector in Afghanistan
The purpose and justification to regulate pharmaceutical systems are to provide medicines or any other related remedies of good quality, effective, Safe, and with right information (Label, inside package leaflet, promotions), to the publics. Because large amount of money flows through pharmaceutical system, this sector is very vulnerable to corruption and unethical practices. Corruption in the pharmaceutical sector occurs throughout all stages of the medicines chain, from research and development to dispensing and promotion. Unethical practices along the chain can take many forms such as falsification of evidence, mismanagement of conflict of interest, or bribery. This situation is harmful to all even to the local strong lobbies those are trying to influence decision making and process in pharmaceutical sector. Because the bigger purchasers will procure their medicines through international agencies in case they loss their trust to locally provided medicines.
